 Tracking for Worksite Management
Q: What advantages does this technology have over
GPS as a worksite management tool?
A: OEM Data Delivery’s technology captures substantially more equipment data, and
process data, than is possible with GPS devices. The OEM Data Delivery Radio Service
Tracker, for example, provides electronic equipment check-in and check-out,
tracks inspections, captures use data on fuel and other consumables and details
equipment service and repairs, including PM (preventive maintenance.) Radio Service Tracker also captures detailed run time and idle time for each
equipment unit, so the costs of servicing equipment before it’s necessary are
avoided, and service can be scheduled at the most convenient time.
The mission of OEM Data Delivery is to provide optimized, streamlined data collection
and worksite management, from the paperless collection of critical use data,
to its secure transmission to the home office and the creation of online
management reports that are password-protected and easy-to-read.
Q: How is the Service Tracker installed and
how long does it take?
A: Installation is power, ground, and ignition input. In 15 to 25 minutes,
this worksite management tool can be up and running. Q: How “bullet proof” are these boxes?
A: The printed circuit boards and other components in Service Tracker units
are mechanically and environmentally hardened for service in extreme worksite
environments. We apply an advanced conformal coating to ensure there are no
exposed leads on the secondary side of the boards, and to protect the board’s
insulation resistance. OEM boards are humidity-tested, and are rated for -40° to
80°C. Enclosures are powder-coated zinc die casting with polycarbonate labeling,
a specification which protects products from dust, dirt and pressure washing.
Our products are also spike and surge protected, which is why they are widely
specified for use in construction and other worksite management applications. Q: How do you download data and how far away
from the unit can the system be?
A: Downloading uses infrared technology; 6” to 2’ data is a workable distance. Q: Can any of your tracking systems stop diesel theft?
A: OEM Data Delivery has a tool that adds security and accountability to the dispensing
of fuel, and helps stop diesel theft. The heart of the System is a wireless device that ID’s
each vehicle, its location, and the fuel dispensed to it. Following dispensing, equipment
hours, mileage and gallons dispensed are captured automatically. GPS coordinates are
stamped into the record as data is collected. The system produces easy-to-understand
analytics immediately, so data can be put to use immediately.
Q: Getting lube guys to call the office and find out
how many hours there are until service is due can
be an issue. Any ideas?
A: Make it easy for them. With the OEM Data Delivery system, a lube man working for the
company, or an independent refueler, doesn’t have to call anyone; all he has to
do is walk up to any machine and he instantly can see where a machine is
relative to service. Q: Any ideas for getting my people to check
the oil more regularly?
A: Mount Service Trackers next to the dip sticks on the machines being operated,
so all they have to do is open the door, beam the Service Tracker – and check the oil.
If there’s service due, the PDA will display an alert . Q: Does the system allow better control
over rental charges?
A: Yes – we believe it is the most effective worksite management tool available
because every time you beam the system, you’re documenting machine hours
and location. You rented July 1 and went off rent July 25, for example,
and there are dated records of every refuel and beam, so you can see hourly
progress. Also, when you call the machine off-rent, that does not mean the
rental company will retrieve it immediately. It may, instead, charge you or
another day. But if you do not refuel, you can document that July 25 was the
last day the equipment was used – (and, by the way, don’t even think of
charging me for an extra day.) TRACKING SOLUTIONS AND WORKSITE MANAGEMENT MAIN PAGE
